Abstract

Sting jet is a dangerous meteorological phenomenon, very challenging to predict, as it was discovered and named quite recently. This article examines the theory of its origin (genesis), life by theory of conveyor belts and finally the consequences of striking surface. It further covers comparison of the characteristics in few windstorms, where Sting jet has occurred, is also covered. The analysis was performed based on real observation data and data from GFS model, as well as on surface observations. Although it strikes rarely, it brings extreme wind that can have devastating impact on many factors from both the social and natural sectors. In addition, understanding such a phenomenon can provide decent base for apprehension other severe cyclonal events by professional meteorologist or severe weather enthusiasts.
