Abstract
This paper describes a new bandpass filter for W-band using cylindrical dielectric resonators. With ceramic materials recently available, dielectric resonators become fit for use being a weighty alternative to waveguide cavities or planar microstrip devices even in the millimetre range. Titania with a dielectric constant of 98.2 had been chosen from a variety of materials for the design of a three-section filter with a centre frequency of 96.0 GHz. It was found that an insertion loss of 2 dB over a bandwidth of 1.7 GHz and reasonable far-off selectivity could be achieved.
