Abstract
This paper discusses the theory about Partial discharge detection and the method of recognizes location of partial discharge. Partial discharge can be detected using Ultra high frequency (UHF) sensors. For the experimental work, Four Monopole UHF sensors are made, in conical shape with different base diameter and different axial length. These sensors can receive the waveform of electromagnetic interference using high bandwidth digital signal Oscilloscope (DSO) with the help of different co-axial cables. PD location can be identified using the method of time difference of arrival (TDOA) of signals at sensors located at different position. From geometric triangulation and using Pythagoras theorem the different set of equation can be adopted. The set of nonlinear equation has been solved using Newton-Raphson method. First peak and energy cumulative methods have been used to determine the time differences. Experimental data are collected and appropriate analysis is done with the help of MATLAB to obtain outputs of Partial Discharge Source Location.
