Abstract
Due to the spectacular evolution of technology today, there is a growing need to modernize ships, especially military ones. Thus, on a ship we can frequently meet electrical and electronic equipment from several generations and from several manufacturers, equipment that has been designed based on different standards. Moreover, due to cost issues, the general trend is to purchase off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment that has not been designed to naval military standards. This requires a thorough analysis of the electromagnetic environment in which the new equipment will operate and compliance with all rules and principles of electromagnetic compatibility during their installation and operation. In this paper the authors make an analysis of trends in the construction and modernization of military ships and propose a way to calculate the magnetic field of dispersal disturbance at a point inside a space / volume in order to assess the electromagnetic environment and establish appropriate antiperturbation measures when introducing a new electrical or electronic equipment in the analyzed space / place.
