Abstract

The GNUV laboratory complex uses two methods of shock wave shaping, namely, the method of electric explosion and the method of sample impact by the plate accelerated by electric explosion. The paper demonstrates potentialities of these methods application. The operating stresses in the sample are recorded by two means. In the range of shock waves with an amplitude of up to 40 kbar (4 GPa) quartz and piezoceramic pressure gauges are applied. Laser Doppler interferometry is used for measuring the rates of impactors (rate of sample free surface) and high pressures. The pressure gauge method was modified to measure the shock wave created by the nanosecond electric explosion of thin wire.
