Abstract

Proper allocation of distributed generation (DG) units integrated with a distribution system plays a significant role in system performance improvement. Voltage profile is one of the factors considered in determining the reliability and efficiency of operation of a power grid. This paper proposes a methodology for optimal placement by selecting candidate buses into which renewable generation, such as PV, is integrated in a distribution system with a high penetration level of solar energy based distributed generators (DG) with an objective function based on voltage profile.
