Historical and cultural heritage of the Great Patriotic War: Alaska-Siberia air route

Abstract

The article is devoted to the results of the expedition of the Russian Geographical Society and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to survey the airfields of the Alaska-Siberia air route in 2021–2022 in order to identify and describe objects related to the history of the formation of this route. Particular attention is paid to the objects of architectural heritage that have been preserved since the Great Patriotic War. The question of the need to preserve and further museumification of these objects is indicated. In addition, an overview of the identified technical objects is given – crashed aircraft, special vehicles, machine tools and other objects related to the history of the route. Proposals were made to create a special museum dedicated to the history of the Alaska-Siberia air route.
