Abstract
A flat-type ultrasonic motor using a longitudinal-bending multimode vibrator with some rollers, is proposed and shown to have stable movements and wide applications. The construction and characteristics of a linearly moving motor and a paper sheet feeding device using the motor are shown. The device has a special feature such that the quality or the thickness of the paper has little effect upon the characteristics. A linearly moving motor is also described using a first-longitudinal-fourth-bending multimode vibrator. The motor consists of a multimode vibrator having two projections at its loop points of the fourth bending mode and a guide. The construction and characteristics are shown.<>
