Therefore, operating rules for managing those complex systems must taking into account satisfaction of local demand for donor reservoirs, then ensure an optimal water transfer that helps to cover demands in deficitary areas, all in avoiding unnecessary water spills. In view of this, the return to optimization methods is essential in order to elaborate an optimal model allowing to achieve all these objectives. This paper presents an overview of optimizing multi-reservoir operating rules in IBWT system using the heuristic Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO).
