From smart grids to smart city

Abstract

How can Smart Grids support the development of a new sustainable urban environment? Network infrastructures can play a key role in enabling innovative, sustainable and user-friendly urban services: energy efficiency, low carbon footprint systems and a city `more efficient to use'. Smart Grids and Smart metering enable services, for citizens and Public Administration, dedicated to building automation, urban lighting and mobility, gas and water interoperability: cutting-edge technologies and customers' awareness are the keys for 2.0 energy networks' success.
