Educational and simulation portal for Internet protocol version 6

Abstract

Internet protocol version 6 as a successor of the IPv4 protocol is being slowly deployed in Internet and so it becomes basis of all Internet communications. Its functions, principles and elements belong to fundamental knowledge of all network experts, administrators, researchers and ICT students. There are several public Internet information portals dealing with IPv6 topics offering visitors various IPv6 based information and links but no IPv6 simulation abilities. That's why we proposed and implemented an educational IPv6 portal which enables visitors to find IPv6 related information as well as basic simulation features. Simulation core of this portal is based on network simulator v.3 but we facilitated a topology (scenario) definition by a graphical tool we also implemented. In this paper we introduce all functions of our portal.
