Books of Ukraine in the mirror of the state bibliography

Abstract

The article examines the thematic distribution of publications in the database of the state bibliography "Chronicle of Books" for 2020, which contains 17 709 bibliographic records according to the classes of UDC. A comparative analysis of the number of publications by sections of the UDC to determine the thematic focus of book publishing in Ukraine in 2020 in accordance with the branches of science. The analysis revealed that the largest number of records belongs to classes 0, 3, 6 and 8 — 13 949 titles, or 79% of the total number of publications in 2020. These are works of art and literature and books on education, law, economics, medicine, science. The remaining sections together account for less than half of all database records — 3760 records, or 21%.
