Applying Blended Learning Mode to Spiral Sudoku in College English Teaching

Abstract

This study analyzed current college students' learning of English and explicated the advantages of applying social media such as Weibo and WeChat for English learning. The study established a bended learning mode of Spiral Sudoku exploiting Weibo and WeChat to allow students to learn English anywhere and anytime. To examine the effectiveness of the learning model, 34 non-English-major freshmen (NEMF) in the ZheJiang University of Technology participated in a one-way quasi-experiment. It was found that all participants loved Spiral Sudoku blended learning mode, 91.2% of them improved on their oral English and 82.3% of them improved on their reading comprehension. The overall English level of the students became significantly better than before.
