Abstract
Breast engorgement is common among postnatal mothers especially in primigravida mothers. Breast engorgement is triggered by intensified lactogenesis causing from a reduced blood level of steroid hormone in postpartum women and with increased prolactin concentrations. The incidence rate of breast engorgement throughout the world is 1:8000 and in India 1:6500. Objectives Of The Study: To assess the knowledge of primi mother’s regarding breast engorgement through pretest. To find out the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding breast engorgement problem among primi mother’s through post-test.To find out the association between post-test knowledge score with selected demographic variables. Materials And Methods : The research approach used in the present study is quantitative research approach and the research design is one group pretest and post test design is chosen for conducting the study , where there is no randomization and control group .
