Case study of a smart collaboration: FEE-UiTM & Cisco Network Academy experience

Abstract

This paper discusses a case study for the teaching, learning and management of a Cisco Networking Academy. The Academy offered the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Network Associates (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Academy Instructor (CCAI) programs. A smart collaboration with Cisco Networking Academy was established in 2001 making Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to be the first institution in Malaysia chosen as Cisco Regional Academy (RA). To date FEE-UiTM as an RA has appointed twenty-two other Local Academies (LA) to carry out the CCNA course. FEE-UiTM has carried out CCAI training for other instructors, incorporates CCNP and CCNA to FEE students and has participants from other industries enrolled for the course. The FEE-UiTM CCNA model has the advantage of industrial linkage, instill market driven curriculum and become fund generating to the faculty.
