Abstract

In this paper, a five element log periodic array has been designed using inset fed triangular microstrip patches. Gap is introduced in the feed line to the elements one at a time. Best frequency independent response is achieved when the second element is fed using gap coupling between the frequency ranges of 6.8 GHz to 15 GHz. The effect of applying the gaps in the feed line has been studied theoretically. The bandwidth of the antenna varies with different element fed using gap coupling. The simulation, fabrication and testing of the arrays have been carried out and the results are in good agreement.
