Abstract

This paper proposes Model Predictive Control (MPC) for single-phase grid connected inverter for PV applications. The proposed single-phase inverter is a five-switch inverter. The inverter is controlled to inject sinusoidal current into the grid. MPC provides control of the amplitude and frequency of the injected current. Five-switch inverter consists of an h-bridge inverter and extra switch is added. The added switch enables reduction the switching losses and voltage stresses of the h-bridge inverter switches. The proposed system has some inherent features such as high gain, reduced switching losses and reduced switches voltage stresses. Detailed analysis of the principle of operation and simulation results will be discussed in details.
