Abstract

As the possibility of transmission of the COVID-19 virus through contact with others has increased, social distancing has been strictly enforced. For this reason, music therapy activities, which are mostly performed in enclosed spaces, and have a high droplet generation due to singing or playing wind instruments, were inevitably atrophied more than any other treatment methods. And the frequency and intensity of domestic violence were increasing worldwide due to the control according to social distancing. In this situation, in order to overcome the problem of virus spread, non-face-to-face music therapy activities using media that enable real-time interactive communication have emerged. These activities are thought to be an effective treatment method even after the COVID-19 situation. This paper examines the practice of real-time interactive music therapy based on Max van Manen’s hermeneutic phenomenology research method itself, which can transform or remodel the victim by deriving the meaning of the experience and reflectively conscious of the victim’s own experience. And furthermore, I expect the effects of this music therapy on the hidden and helpless victims of domestic violence.
