Abstract

This paper presents a new method for hiding text message in digital images. In this technique nine bits of message can be hidden in a single pixel. A true image is composed of three elements, R, G and B components. In each component three bits of message can be hidden. Here the message is not only embedded in the least significant bit (LSB), but also the second LSB, third LSB and the fourth LSB are also susceptible to change. But during each process of embedding only two bit planes of each component is allowed to change. Since the capacity of this method is high, small number of pixels needs to be manipulated for embedding data. To have additional security this method changes only the even columns of pixels. Since only few pixels are used and also consecutive pixels are not changing it is difficult for the steganalysers to detect the presence of a second data inside the digital image. As compared with the LSB-matching method this method has the highest data embedding capacity and is more difficult to detect the embedded message.
