Abstract
In the current decade, technology for individual learning has changed from intelligent tutorial learning systems and multimedia information systems to virtual learning environment. The concept of "smart school", one of the main flagship applications in the multimedia super corridor (MSC) is to target the students to learn through self-directed and self-accessed studies. This paper focuses on the feasibility study for multimedia based virtual learning system (MVLS) in Malaysia for educating adults in learning English language which is essential for the development of Malaysia's information based economy to have a global communication. The system provides virtual based environment, an environment similar to real life activities, which makes the learner's attention span longer and enables them to learn faster without having problem to explore the system.
