Abstract

Though, an intensive research on traffic management over the decade has eradicated much of its limitations, yet it remained challenging. Inefficient traffic signaling incorporates huge delay that hinders not only our daily activities but can be life threatening. Besides, inefficient traffic signaling and fraudulent vehicles impedes normal traffic system by introducing several uneven phenomena. Also tracking of individual vehicle for citizen safety applications demands an efficient and accurate mechanism. Thus traffic management requires an intelligent system that will be able to handle normal traffic flow as well as emergency vehicles and fraudulent vehicles. This paper proposes a hierarchical wireless traffic entity network driven adaptive traffic signaling mechanism that not only considers normal traffic signaling but also serves emergency vehicles with higher precedence. In addition the proposed approach considers urban traffic lighting scenarios and provides fraudulent vehicle detection mechanism.
