Abstract

J.C. Gower's similarity algorithm (1971) is flexible in its ability to classify objects with diverse types of attributes. The author extends Gower's algorithm to handle composite objects using semantic data modeling. The resulting composite classification algorithm, which can be integrated with a knowledge base, facilitates the definition and use of prototype concepts.<>
