However, there are major challenges that must be addressed to achieve security in cloud computing such as confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Techniques such as load balancing and fault tolerance have been used to provide a sustainable and high availability service. Many load balancing and fault tolerance methods that work individually or in cooperation have been proposed. In this paper, we introduce a new method that combines a load balancing algorithm with a fault tolerance technique to enhance availability in a cloud environment. In comparison with some of the previously proposed methods, the new method achieves a better performance in terms of downtime as a result of reducing the response time in case of failure.
