Abstract

Based on the particle interference theory and French GB5 gradation design, this paper designs the gradation of GB5-13 concretes by using the gyratory compactor (GC) on aggregates. The paper also compares the high temperature performance, low temperature performance, water stability, fatigue resistance and dynamic modulus of the GB5 gradation and those of conventional SMA mixes. Results show that the GB5-13 mix based on the new skeleton packing theory is more cost-effective and has better comprehensive road performance.
