Abstract

Quality of care, quality of life, and resident safety are concepts integral to boarding home life. These three concepts were central to the development of a Quality Improvement Consultation (QIC) program for boarding homes in Washington State. The goals of the program were to: • Accurately identify resident needs and compliance concerns • Develop strategies to comply successfully with licensing requirements • Take effective action to enable residents to reside in the appropriate settings of their choice • Promote resident quality of life, quality of care, and safety • Teach application of continuous quality improvement (QI) principles The purpose of this article is to describe the QIC program and report on findings of provider satisfaction.
