Abstract

In this paper, we have research the reduction of the fading characteristics by using the diversity antenna and 2×2 smart antenna. For V2V performance through 5.86GHz WAVE band. Measurements were performed in Choenan-si of South Korea. We found out that the fading reduction effect of the selection diversity antenna compared to the 2×2 smart antenna was 0.65–4.25dB higher in LOS and 1.15–1.75dB better in NLOS channel environments. This is because the beam width of the our 2×2 smart antenna system is very wide. With this, it is expected that the fading reduction effect can be obtained by narrowing the beam width appropriately and also arranging the spacing between the elements of the smart antenna.
