How to go from insourcing to outsourcing: A conceptualized and illustrative framework of the transient phase

Abstract

The move from an insourcing setup to an outsourcing setup is a challenging responsibility that needs to be prepared and managed carefully. This research paper attempts to bring a better understanding about the transient phase. It proposes a framework that conceptualize the transient phase into four stages: (a) supplier selection, (b) selection of the implementation strategic decision, (c) implementation of the strategic decision and (d) validation of the strategic decision. An application is shared to illustrate the suggested model and to guide the Moroccan Ministry of Health through the move from insourcing to outsourcing setup.
