A vision of change for the mediterranean electricity systems

Abstract

A synthesis is presented of the results of a planning study done by Med-TSO. The expected expansion 2012-2022 of the Power Systems facing the Mediterranean Sea is reported, as it results from the official National Development Plan of each Country. For the South and East Mediterranean countries from Morocco to Turkey, new investments in generation and transmission facilities in excess of 200 billion € are expected in the decade. Several hypothesis of interconnection between these countries and the European Power system are as well described.
