Breastfeeding: historical and medical aspects

Abstract

In August 2022, World Breastfeeding Week was held. Breastfeeding is a type of nutrition that has developed within the biological evolution of all mankind and refers to the appropriate nutrition of a newborn infant. Natural feeding creates directly protective and stimulating body options. A complex chemical and biological composition of breast milk renders a huge range of functions of protection and regulation of the development and differentiation of the child's body. In this context, nutrition is the basis of child health programming. Historically, each ethnic group has developed its own practice in baby feeding for centuries, which was determined by climatic and geographical features. Due to various national traditions of feeding, a modern type of feeding has developed, which does not lose its relevance in modern times.
