Abstract
To the stability study of electrical power network, the Middlebrook criterion is the mostly accepted method, which examines small signal stability of averaged models. Only the input impedance of the load subsystem and the output impedance of the source subsystem and their Bode diagrams are needed. The analytic calculation of the input/output impedances may be extensive while there is no information on the sensitivity of the impedances to parameter variations available for a hardware measurement approach. In this paper an approach for stability of power systems for More Electric Aircraft using the Middlebrook criterion and the eigenvalue method is applied to assess the small-signal stability. Stability analysis of this class of systems is crucial due to the potential for negative impedance instability.
