Abstract
Carbonate reservoirs are widely spread all over Russian Land. Quite common methodology of carbonate wells productivity enhancement is reservoir stimulation with hydrochloric acid solutions (HCl).
However, deteriorated reservoir properties during formation evaluation and Wireline Formation Testing (WFT) in open hole, could significantly impact on reservoir characterization results.
This paper presents an innovative technique and several examples of its practical implementation, aimed to enhance WFT platforms performance in carbonate reservoirs. Technique involves low perm carbonate reservoirs stimulation using relatively low-volume acid solutions, immediately before performing formation testing with WFT platform. In addition, this technique allows to perform in-situ acid solutions effectiveness evaluation at reservoir conditions, naturally fractured reservoirs stimulation, as well as borehole surface clean-up in open hole and remedy work in cased hole, designated to scales removal from completion string components in cased hole.
