Abstract

Ultra-low power nodes of a wireless sensor network (WSN) have limited communication range, usually a few hundred meters. To make the sensor data available outside the local network, a gateway module is required. It interfaces the sensor network to a large coverage network, such as 3G and 4G. This project describes the design of a maintenance-free, energetically independent gateway module using super-capacitors as energy storage devices.
