Sustainable Supply Chain Management: Research Review and its Future

Abstract

The power of sustainability established its foundation almost in all spheres of business such as fashion, textile, healthcare, furniture etc. Enormous factors impacting the strength of our environment are not hidden, to alter how the resources of the earth are used, immediate action is needed.. Industrialists across the world are shifting their focus towards adopting sustainable methods to reduce the impact on society and the environment and also to enhance economic performance. In this paper, a detailed discussion is done on the current research state in the area of Sustainable Supply Chain Management(SSCM), megatrend and technologies benefiting SSCM, the challenges or limitations in SSCM and the possible research gaps for its advancement in future. The extensive literature is presented with perspective of Economic, Social and Environmental aspects using a consolidated framework under seven major categories as Sustainable Design and Packaging, Sustainable Production, Sustainable Marketing, Sustainable Logistics, Sustainable procurement, Sustainable suppliers, Sustainable customers. This research aims to benefit the researchers, industry practitioners, theoreticians to take inspiration while making decisions for adopting the smart technology and sustainability parameters for SSCM.
