A Comparative Study on the Input Validity of Regional Universities Educational Funds Based on DEA and Malmquist Indexes

Abstract

Government funding is a meaningful way to invest in educational resources. And ordinary colleges and universities account for a considerable proportion of educational funding. Based on the DEA model and the Malmquist index method, this paper analyzes the static and dynamic changes of ordinary colleges and universities’ funding efficiency in China from 2009 to 2017. According to the studies, the validity of funding input in ordinary colleges and universities in China is generally low, greatly affected by the pure technology's validity. Significant differences can be found between regions. Based on the results, this paper puts forward some suggestions on optimizing funding allocation for current general higher education, adjusting the structure of funds input, and expanding the scale of schooling appropriately.
