Measuring RCM implementation

Abstract

Reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) is a proven methodology for optimizing maintenance practices, but implementing an RCM program represents a major undertaking for an organization. An effective implementation must balance the organization's desire for progress with the need for quality RCM analyses to achieve bottom-line results. A well-organized suite of metrics can aid implementation. Such a system must measure progress, quality, and benefits, making these attributes widely accessible to those involved in management and implementation. Supporting systems must be designed to draw the data for these metrics without creating excessive overhead.
