气象学报创刊于1925年，是由中国气象学会主办的全国性大气科学学术性期刊，旨在反映我国大气科学领域中最新科研成果，为大气科学研究提供学术交流阵地，以推动我国大气科学基础和理论研究的发展，服务于我国气象现代化建设事业。本刊以气象、水文、海洋及环境等相关学科的科研与业务人员和高等院校师生为主要读者对象，主要刊登大气科学各分支学科的创造性论文；国内外大气科学发展动态的综合评述；大气科学新观点、新理论、新技术、新方法的介绍；大气科学研究工作简报及重要学术会议报道；国内优秀大气科学专著的评介。为适应我国大气科学的迅速发展，扩大信息量，2002《气象学报》将改版为大16开本，以便尽快地反映气象科技工作者的最新研究成果。
