Based on the simulation of a fire in an apartment and the process of evacuating people from it, an analysis of the calculations carried out for modern multi-level residential complexes designed with the participation of the authors, was concluded to develop the additional criteria for safe evacuation from the building. As a result of the study, it was found that its configuration and dimensions exert the main influence on the value of the maximum distance from the most remote point of the apartment to the exit.
