La formación de la interjección ¡ahí va! en el español peninsular

We study in this article the creation of the interjection ahi va!, which has its origin in the reduction of larger sentences in which someone or something that attracts attention and causes surprise to the speaker is highlighted (“ahi va la loca”, etc.). The elision of the subject of the verb ir, which expressed the element that causes surprise, gives rise to exclamative constructions that are fixed as a unitary sequence, in which there is a process of univerbation. We find a process of grammaticalization by pragmaticalization. The interjection ahi va! seems to have arisen in the nineteenth century and constitutes a development of Peninsular Spanish.
