In this paper, the direct power control strategy has been improved by replacing the bang-bang power controller with a space vector pulse width modulation technique, providing a faster speed response and faster power transfer. A different method for estimating the power is also developed to provide easier implementation. To analyze its performance, the developed strategy was compared to the direct power control with bang-bang controller and the direct torque control.
