This article addresses the issue of the exile writing starting from the comparative study of three short-stories from Guatemalan writers published between 1962 and 2011: “Los exiliados” by Mario Monteforte Toledo, “Ningún lugar sagrado” by Rodrigo Rey Rosa and “Mañana nunca lo hablamos” by Eduardo Halfon. The aim of the study is to highlight the similarities and differences in the way the experience of exile is represented in the literary texts, following two essential parameters to understand the dynamic: the representation of the homeland and the reconfiguration of the identity forced by exile.
