This review article discusses the history and importance of agriculture as a source of food and other products for human consumption and the challenges facing the agriculture industry, including climate change, soil degradation, and water scarcity. The various revolutions that have occurred in agriculture were also explored, from the adoption of modern agriculture to the green process and precision agriculture. This article also summarises by exploring the prospects for the fourth agricultural revolution, which centres on deploying technology to foster environmentally responsible farming methods.
