The cosmetic items included eighteen lipsticks of various prices. The lipsticks were digested and analyzed for heavy metals ( lead, cadmium and Nickel) using atomic absorption spectrophotometer.It is obvious from the present study that the use of these lipsticks exposes users to low concentrations of toxic heavy metals which could constitute potential health risk to users since they are known to accumulate in biological systems over time.
