The advent of nextgeneration sequencing (NGS), whole-genome sequencing or whole-exome sequencing has revolutionized prenatal diagnosis and fetal medicine. Here, the potential future of prenatal genetic diagnosis, including a move toward NGS technologies, is discussed.
