Effect of naloxone combined with non-invasive positive pressure ventilation on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with type II respiratory failure
Objective
To explore the curative effect of naloxone combined with non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) on patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with type II respiratory failure (T2RF) .
Methods
Ninety patients with COPD and T2RF who were treated in the Changzhi People’s Hospital from January 2016 to January 2019 were enrolled, and they were divided into two groups by random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was given routine drugs combined with NIPPV, while observation group was additionally given naloxone on basis of control group. The response rate of treatment, changes of arterial blood gas function indexes and respiratory mechanical indexes, and adverse reactions before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.
Results
After treatment, response rate of treatment in observation group was higher than that in control group (80.00% vs. 53.33%, P 0.05).
Conclusions
The clinical curative effect of naloxone combined with NIPPV is significant on COPD and T2RF, which can significantly improve respiratory mechanics and arterial blood gas function indexes, with high safety.
