Management of oral Kaposi’s sarcoma lesions on HIV-positive patient using highly active antiretroviral therapy: Case report and a review of the literature
This article reports an unusual presentation of an oral KS lesion in an HIV-positive HAART-naïve patient three years after diagnosis. The lesions gradually decreased in size subsequent to the initiation of HAART. KS lesions may regress after HAART begins, suggesting that the recovery of the immune system and a direct antiviral effect against human herpes virus 8 (HHV-8) may largely cause this improvement.
