The present bounds on their values are of order <span><math><msup><mrow><mn>10</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>2</mn></mrow></msup></math></span> and <span><math><msup><mrow><mn>10</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>17</mn></mrow></msup><mi>e</mi><mtext> cm</mtext></math></span>, respectively. We propose to measure <span><math><msub><mrow><mi>a</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>τ</mi></mrow></msub></math></span> with a precision of <span><math><mi>O</mi><mo>(</mo><msup><mrow><mn>10</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>3</mn></mrow></msup><mo>)</mo></math></span> or better and improve the existing limits on <span><math><msub><mrow><mi>d</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>τ</mi></mrow></msub></math></span> using precise <span><math><msup><mrow><mi>τ</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msup><mo>→</mo><msup><mrow><mi>l</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msup><msub><mrow><mi>ν</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>τ</mi></mrow></msub><msub><mrow><mover><mrow><mi>ν</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>¯</mo></mrow></mover></mrow><mrow><mi>l</mi></mrow></msub><mi>γ</mi></math></span> (<span><math><mi>l</mi><mo>=</mo><mi>e</mi></math></span> or <em>μ</em>) data from high-luminosity <em>B</em> factories. Towards a determination of the tau lepton dipole moments
The τ anomalous magnetic moment and electric dipole moment have not yet been observed. The present bounds on their values are of order and , respectively. We propose to measure with a precision of or better and improve the existing limits on using precise ( or μ) data from high-luminosity B factories. A detailed feasibility study of this method is underway.
