The data are expressed in the form of three laws: the dependence of historical memory on an objective basis, the relative independence of historical memory, and its active influence on the material life of society. As a result, the consequences of spontaneous and conscious (manipulation of public consciousness) distortion of historical memory for the development of society are revealed.
