Se asume que en el acto de ensenar geografia se ha enfatizado lo descriptivo sin procurar la comprension critica de la complejidad contemporanea. Asi, para abordar esta problematica se determino, metodologicamente, interrogar a diez (10) personas que se encontraran cursando estudios en docencia en geografia, para diagnosticar sus percepciones sobre esta situacion. Las respuestas revelaron sus inquietudes sobre el complicado acento aldeano globalizado, la debilidad de la educacion para entender la situacion geografica, y la necesidad de promover la explicacion critica como opcion para educar en valores a los ciudadanos. Finalmente, en la conclusion se senala que la ensenanza de la geografia debe ser coherente con la epoca y que se debe educar en valores de compromiso y responsabilidad social ante un momento historico complicado y dificil para la sociedad contemporanea. EnglishThis article reflects on the characteristics of the geographical situation of the current historical moment. It is assumed that geography teaching has overemphazed the descriptive tools over the problematizing ones that could lead to critically understanding the contemporary complexity. Methodologically, this assumption was determined by questioning ten (10) people studying geography teaching, to diagnose their perceptions on the issue. Their responses revealed their concerns about the complex globalized village accent; the weakness of education to understand the geographical situation and the need to promote critical explanation as an option to educate citizens on values.
