For this, the EBSCO, Dialnet, WOS, and Google academic databases were used, and 14 representative articles on the topic published between 2000 and 2018 were selected. The results of the reports analyzed show that while there are different types of mindfulness interventions in athletes, the Mindfulness-Acceptance (MAC) and Mindfulness Sport Performance Enhancement (MSPE) programs offer the most comprehensive empirical validation. Among the benefits of use of mindfulness, special mention should be made of reduction of anxiety, improvement in attentional cognitive skills and awareness, and increased commitment and goal orientation. Impact on sports performance is still unclear, although it generates positive attitudes and improvements in the quality of life of athletes.
