This represents the first record of L. corniger in the Iraqi territorial waters of the Arab Gulf. The lernanthropid copepod Lernanthropus corniger Yamaguti, 1954 was found attached to the gill filaments of two species of carangid fishes: Megalaspis cordyla and Carangoides malabaricus which were collected from northwest of the Arab Gulf. This represents the first record of L. corniger in the Iraqi territorial waters of the Arab Gulf. M. cordyla and C. malabaricus are new hosts for this parasite in the Arab Gulf.
